Manage fleet geofences

A geofence is a virtual perimeter around a real-world location. When a vehicle crosses into or out of a geofence, Servinix logs the event and can trigger an alert. Use the Fleet Geofences page to create and manage geofences and to monitor vehicle activity within them.

Before you start

  • Manager or Admin role required to create, edit, or delete geofences.
  • Geofence crossings are detected by vehicles with active DataLogger OBD devices.

Steps

Open the Fleet Geofences page

  1. In the left navigation, click Fleet.
  2. Click the Zones & Geofencing card on the Fleet Intelligence dashboard. The page opens at Home › Fleet Management › Geofences.
If no geofences exist yet, you see the empty-state message: “Your geofences will live here.”

Create a geofence

  1. Click Create geofence (top of the page or in the empty-state prompt).
  2. On the map that fills the right side of the page, draw the perimeter for your geofence. Use the layer chip in the top-left of the map to hide customer sites and focus on operational fences.
  3. Name the geofence and configure any required settings in the creation form.
  4. Save the geofence. It appears on the map immediately and in the Zones tab.
To take a quick product tour, click 30s tour next to the Create geofence button.

View geofence activity

The left panel contains six tabs for monitoring geofence activity:
TabWhat it shows
ActivityA chronological feed of all vehicle crossings
ZonesThe list of all configured geofences
SummaryAggregate counts (visits, vehicles, avg dwell, open entries)
FeedA filtered stream of entry and exit events
By ZoneActivity grouped by geofence
By VehicleActivity grouped by vehicle

Filter the Activity feed

Use the filter controls above the activity table to narrow results:
  • Date Range — select a preset (Today, 7D, 30D) or enter custom dates.
  • Vehicle — filter to a specific vehicle from the “All vehicles” dropdown.
  • Group — filter to a vehicle group from the “All groups” dropdown.
  • Geofence — filter to a specific geofence from the “All geofences” dropdown.
  • Status — use the All, Inside, or Exited tabs.
Click Reset to clear all filters.

Read the activity table

The activity table shows: Vehicle, Geofence, When (entry time and current status), Dwell (time inside), and Status. A “Stuck >12h” badge appears next to the dwell time for vehicles that have been inside a geofence for more than 12 hours without exiting.

Include or exclude customer sites

Enable the Include customer sites toggle to overlay your customer locations on the map and activity feed alongside operational geofences. Disable it to show only geofences you have created manually. This setting does not affect which alerts are generated.

Export activity data

Click Export CSV (top right of the activity table) to download the current filtered activity log.

Edit or delete a geofence

  1. Click the Zones tab to list all geofences.
  2. Select the geofence you want to change.
  3. Use the edit controls to update the name, perimeter, or settings, then save.
  4. To delete a geofence, select it and choose the delete option. Deleting a geofence removes it from the map and stops future crossing alerts, but does not erase historical activity records.

Result / verify

After creating a geofence, it appears as a drawn boundary on the map and in the Zones tab list. The next time a tracked vehicle crosses the perimeter, an entry appears in the Activity feed with the vehicle ID, entry timestamp, and an “Inside” status.

Troubleshooting

No activity appearing after creating a geofence — confirm that the vehicle you expect to trigger crossings has an active OBD device and has completed at least one trip since the geofence was created. Vehicle shows “Stuck >12h” — the vehicle entered the geofence but has not exited. Check the live map at Fleet → Live to confirm the vehicle’s current location.
