Hire Maya — pick an AI receptionist voice
This article covers Step 2 of 5 in AI CSR onboarding: choosing the AI voice that will answer calls for your business. The page is at/receptionist/setup/voice and is titled Meet your team.
Switching voices later does not reset your FAQs, transfer rules, or call scoring history — only the name and audio change.
Before you start
- Complete Step 1 of AI CSR onboarding (confirm your business basics) first.
- Use a desktop browser — the page displays “Open on desktop to hire your receptionist” if accessed on mobile.
- Have audio available so you can preview each voice.
The six voices
| Voice | Accent | Persona |
|---|---|---|
| Maya | American — Warm Midwest | Warm, confident. Asks clarifying questions before booking. Recommended for plumbing, HVAC, and electrical. |
| Jordan | American | Direct, no-nonsense. Books fast. |
| Eli | American | Calm, reassuring. Strong empathy for distressed callers. |
| Sage | Irish | Patient and reassuring. Customer-trust forward. |
| Casey | British | Polished, professional. Best with commercial clients. |
| Avery | American | Energetic and approachable. Great for general home services. |
Steps
- Go to AI CSR in the left sidebar, then click Review next to Hire Maya — pick your AI receptionist in the onboarding checklist. The voice selection page opens.
- For each voice you want to preview, click Listen. A sample greeting plays: for example, Maya’s sample is “Hi, this is Maya at ACME Plumber. How can I help you today?”
- If a voice is already selected and playing, use Listen again to replay it.
- When you have found the voice you want, click Hire Maya.
- A confirmation dialog appears. Click Hire Maya again to confirm, or Cancel to go back and preview others.
