# Add a vehicle to GPS Tracking

Register a new vehicle in Servinix so it can be paired with a DataLogger device and tracked on the live fleet map.

## Before you start

* You must have Fleet access.
* Have your vehicle details ready (make, model, year, and any internal resource name you want to use).
* If you intend to pair a DataLogger at the same time, the device must already be installed in the vehicle. See [Install DataLogger on a light-duty vehicle](/gps-tracking/device-setup/install-datalogger-light-duty-vehicle).

## Steps

1. In the left navigation, click **Resources** (under Fleet).
2. Click **Add Vehicle**.
3. In the form that opens, enter the vehicle details:
   * **Resource name** — the display name shown in the portal and on the fleet map (for example, *Test Truck #1*).
   * **Make**, **Model**, and **Year** — used to identify the vehicle type in reports and diagnostics.
4. If a DataLogger device is already installed in this vehicle, select or enter the device identifier to pair it. The DEVICES column on the resource list will show the device type (OBD, dashcam, or other) once paired.
5. Save the vehicle record.
6. The new vehicle appears in the **Vehicles** tab on the Resources page. It will show as **Dark** health until the paired device sends its first ping.

## Result / verify

Navigate to Resources and open the **Vehicles** tab. The new vehicle should appear in the table with its name, device pairing, and health status. Once the paired DataLogger sends data, the **HEALTH** column updates to **Healthy** and **LAST PING** shows the time of the most recent transmission.

## Troubleshooting

* **The vehicle appears but stays Dark.** The DataLogger may not be powered on or may be seated incorrectly. Check the port connection and LED status. See [Verify device connection](/gps-tracking/device-setup/verify-device-connection).
* **No device to pair now.** You can add a vehicle without a device and pair the device later by editing the vehicle record.
