# Log time entries

> View and edit Servinix time entries for a job—including travel, working, and break segments—so payroll and job costing reflect actual technician hours.

# Log time entries

View, add, and edit time entries that capture how your working day was spent — including shift time, travel, job work, breaks, and admin time.

## Before you start

* Time entries are created automatically when you start your shift, begin travel, start work, take a break, or finish a job. You do not need to log these manually unless you need to correct an error.
* To view or add entries, navigate to the **Time entries** screen. From the home screen, tap the **Log time** quick action, or go to the Time Entries feature in the app.

## How automatic time tracking works

The app creates time entries automatically at each lifecycle event:

| Event | Entry type created |
| -------------------------- | ---------------------- |
| Shift started | Shift |
| Travel started | Travel |
| Work started (Start work) | Job |
| Break started | Break |
| Break ended | Closes the Break entry |
| Job finished (Finish work) | Closes the Job entry |
| Shift ended | Closes the Shift entry |

Automatically created entries show the time range they cover. Entries that are still running show **in progress** next to the start time.

## Add a manual time entry

Use this when you forgot to clock an action or need to log admin time.

1. On the **Time entries** screen, tap **Add entry**.

2. The **Add time entry** screen opens.

3. Under **Type**, select the entry type: **Shift**, **Job**, **Travel**, **Break**, or **Admin**.

4. Under **Time**, enter the start time and end time in HH:MM (24-hour) format.

5. If the type is **Job**, enter the **Job label** and **Customer** name.

6. Under **Billable**, toggle on if this time should be charged to the customer. Shift and Break entries are always non-billable and the toggle is disabled for those types.

7. Add any **Notes** for payroll or billing context.

8. Tap **Add entry** to save.

## Edit an existing time entry

1. On the **Time entries** screen, tap the entry you want to edit.

2. The **Edit time entry** screen opens with the current values.

3. Update the start time, end time, or notes as needed.

4. If the entry was created automatically (auto-captured), a **Reason for edit** field appears and is required. Enter a short explanation (for example, *Forgot to clock out on arrival*).

5. Tap **Save changes**.

## Delete a time entry

1. Open the entry on the **Edit time entry** screen.

2. Tap **Delete entry**.

3. Confirm the deletion. Deleted entries cannot be recovered — you can re-add them manually.

## Result / verify

The **Time entries** screen groups entries by day and shows a total duration and billable duration for each day (for example, **6h · 4h 30m billable**). Check that the totals match your expected working time.

## Troubleshooting

**An auto-captured entry has the wrong end time:** Open the entry and edit the end time. Enter a reason for the edit when prompted.

**Time entries are missing:** Time entries are stored on your device and sync to the server when connectivity is available. If entries are missing after an app restart, see [Offline sync stuck or not completing](/field-service-management/fsm-troubleshooting/offline-sync-stuck) or [Time entries showing incorrect durations](/field-service-management/fsm-troubleshooting/time-entries-incorrect).
