# Schedule a job from the Inbox

Book a job for a customer directly from their conversation thread. The **Schedule visit** flow lets you pick a service type and available time slot without navigating away from the Inbox.

## Before you start

* The customer must have a record in Servinix. If they are a new contact, add them first. See [Add a customer](/field-service-management/customers/add-a-customer).
* You need dispatcher or admin access to schedule jobs.
* Available time slots are based on your team's current schedule and configured service types.

## Steps

1. In the left navigation, select **Inbox**.
2. Open the conversation with the customer you want to book.
3. In the conversation panel, select **Schedule visit**.
4. The **Schedule visit** panel opens with the heading **Book a visit for this contact.**
5. Under **Schedule Job**, select the **Service Type** from the dropdown. Available types include: **Plumbing**, **HVAC**, **Electrical**, and **General**.
6. Review the **Next Available** time slots listed below the service type. Servinix shows the next several available windows, for example:
   * Mon, May 25, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
   * Mon, May 25, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
   * Tue, May 26, 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM
7. Select the time slot that works for the customer. To see more options, select **Pick another time...**
8. If you want to notify the customer of the booking, leave **Send confirmation to customer** checked.
9. Select **Schedule** to confirm the booking.

## Result / verify

The job is created and appears on the dispatch board under the selected time slot. If **Send confirmation to customer** was checked, the customer receives a confirmation message via SMS. You can view the booked job from the **Jobs** page or the **Dispatch** view in the portal.
